On November 1 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a lecture to the students of Vietnam National University (VNU), Tengrinews.kz special correspondent reports from Hanoi.
Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke about the development path of the independent Kazakhstan, including about the closure of Semipalatinsk nuclear testing site. He devoted a part of his speech to modernization of Kazakhstan's system of education. He stressed that Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country admitted into the European Higher Education Area. “Last year we joined the European Culture Congress and the Bologna process”, Nazarbayev told the Vietnamese students. He urged Vietnamese education officials to foster student and faculty exchange.
“I welcome Vietnamese partners to cooperate with our newly established University (Nazarbayev University) and other universities in Kazakhstan to exchange students so that young people from Vietnam could study in our country and our young people could study in your university. We are interested in student and teacher exchanges, in training and re-training of technical personnel and other professionals, and in joint research,” Nazarbayev said.
It’s worth noting that Nazarbayev’s book “The Crucial Decade” has been translated into Vietnamese.
President Nazarbayev was presented with the VNU Honored PhD diploma.
VNU was the last destination in the program of the official visit of President Nazarbayev to Vietnam. Nursultan Nazarbayev departed from Hanoi on November 1.
Vietnam National University is a university in Hanoi. The university has 10 colleges. This is one of the two largest universities in Vietnam. The institution also owns two high schools for gifted students in foreign languages (Foreign Language Specialized School) and natural science (High School for the Gifted - University of Natural Science).
